About me

My name is Julia, owner of Heart Haven Healing Arts. I am a certified yoga instructor, registered through Yoga Alliance, and a Licensed Massage Therapist. I completed my massage training at the SpaTech Institute in Westbrook, ME in October, 2024, and established my private practice in November, 2024. I have been practicing and teaching yoga for the better part of 11 years. In 2014 I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher certification through Jacqui Bonwell’s Sacred Seeds program. Since then, I have completed a 20-hour foundational training in Trauma Sensitive Yoga with the Center for Trauma and Embodiment, as well as a 40-hour training in Yin Yoga and a 35-hour training in Yoga Nidra with Sagel Urlacher. In addition to teaching in studio settings, I have also crafted custom classes and retreats for adults and teens at various educational institutions, businesses, and after-school programs. When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me in my garden, with my nose in a book, playing music, or exploring the mountains with my husband and my dog.

Both yoga and massage have roots in wisdom traditions that are thousands of years old and - thanks to the service of many teachers across centuries - have evolved to meet our needs and help us grow, here and now. I strive to honor this lineage of teachings with humility, helping my clients to come home to themselves. Ten years in education taught me a lot about the power of meeting people where they are and holding a container for their unique experience in this fast-paced world, and it is with great respect and joy that I endeavor to share these practices with others.. Combining the potent effects of breath work, meditation, movement, and massage, I am confident that clients will find the tools they need at Heart Haven to live fully embodied lives and share their own gifts with the world.
